I totally get where your cumming from, if all programmers had the mindfulness to use best practice in programming, we certainly would have better programs and fewer bugs. I'm sure they will throw you back that ball and I certainly do not have the time to play man in the middle. I don't think I will have much success contacting MS or RH to have them change the way their FTP client behave especially when the problem only occurs on one version of FileZilla servers and not anywhere else (to my knowledge). OK, well, we have this issue when running the script on my Linux RH VM and also on my Microsoft Windows 10 computer when I did some test. Here are the log entries on the server side when trying "MGET *"

I'm still hoping to get to the bottom of this, so i reinstalled version 1.1 and tried it again.

Never had any issues on any other platforms, been running it for a very long time. it stopped working when i upgraded to FileZilla version 1.1 and started working again when i downgraded back to version 0.9.60. Could you elaborate on how can this be a client side issue? My script using MGET is working fine with FileZilla server version 0.9.60 (and all previous version of FZ servers I had for the past few years), Ubuntu FTP servers, IIS FTP servers.
